Personal Goals and Musical Experience
My Personal Goals
My main goal with this course is to develop my skills and ability in writing music in different styles and contexts. I write songs at home but I am usually getting ideas from other songs, I would like to start relying on my own mind and making my own melodies rather than getting Mr Gower to help me with most of the chords and arrangements. I would like to be a professional songwriter but since the industry is very competitive I need to be able to stick out from the crowd which will give me an upper hand in the business. I have created an individual style for myself and I have a very unique way of writing songs from poems, I also have a range of tone in my vocals. I do vocal warm ups before I sing and warm downs after singing. I sing most days which allows me to her the different tones in my voice and adapt the songs to my tone. To achieve my goals I will be more focused and will continue you to write poems which then I can turn into songs by repeating a part to make it the chorus and the other stanzas will be the verses. I watch a lot of music videos which allows me to understand and recognise decent stage presence. I would like to be able to perform one of my songs but my anxiety always holds me back. The main steps I will take to achieve a performance is constant exposure to singing in front of people. I know that my parents hear me while I am in my bedroom but unfortunately whenever I go to sing directly in front of them I can't I will start with them then I will continue to singing in front of Ms Rotchell then finally in front of my class hopefully. My biggest struggle is the fear that I will make a fool out of myself if that happens I will never be able to perform again. But if constant exposure is what is necessarily then I will try that and it will hopefully ease the anxiety.
